I love to mess around with art. Even if Im not the most artistic, or even creative person. I've never really been able to draw, even stick figures turned out badly, however once I discovered 3D modeling and rendering, I was drawn to it. And that’s typically what I do, 3D stuff.
Programs I use:
For landscapes I use Terragen or Vue. I’ve tried the Tech Demo for Terragen 2, but still haven’t got the full hang of it, can’t wait for the full version to come out though. Vue I usually use Vue 6 xStream, but most of the time I try to cross program Vue with other things, Vue crashes... damn bugs.
For general 3D work I use Cinema 4D; a high end, amazingly user friendly program. I used to use Bryce (Daz Studio now I think....), but the lack of modeling tools put me off. I did like the Premade materials available in Bryce though, they were quite nice. Bryce also teaches why Geometric Primitives should be held up as amazing objects... the amount of things you can make out of just a couple of spheres and cubes...
I also enjoy Photo editing, retouching, general ‘Shooping’. Mostly I like a challenge, seeing something someone else has made, I try to recreate it using the tools and knowledge I have. That’s where most of my inspiration comes from. I use (dur) Photoshop (CS3) for... well... Photoshopping? And Jasc Animation Shop for anything (gif) animated (I just never got a hold of Illustrator...).
Although Cinema 4D is my primary 3D app, I have dabbled in a little bit of everything... little Blender here, 3ds Max there.... Maya... well... not much of Maya, but it’s the thought that counts.
Although I haven’t been doing much artistic stuff lately, you can always find my latest pieces on my DeviantArt account Link. Aside from that, as with the link above, I have uploaded a gallery to this site. I used LightBox for it, so to get its full effect, you need to be on a browser that can run JavaScript, and have it enabled. Enjoy!
